The Rite Edge lock-back Hawkbill is an inexpensive alternative that you're not going to fret over dropping overboard. The knife is no frills and under $10.00, yet it has a solid build and features a lock back design. The wood handles add a nice touch and the cheap wire bail allows you to tie a lanyard to the knife.

The lock back is very sturdy, especially considering the price and the blade is nearly razor sharp out of the box. Fit and finish is also quite nice. Hard to go wrong with this knife. I douby it will last a life-time but it'll probably last until you drop it overboard!
